The Firm leads the electricity regulatory developments in India. It is currently working in many States across India; advising on various regulatory aspects of the electricity sector. The Firm has a large portfolio of clients that include public utilities, generating companies, distribution and transmission companies, trading licensees, consumer bodies, regulatory commissions, consumer/ industry associations and private stakeholders.
The Firm’s involvement includes regulatory advice and support on matters relating to transmission, distribution, deemed distribution and franchise models, generation & trading of electricity, determination of tariff under bidding, non-discriminatory open access, renewable purchase obligations and other related issues, including renewable energy certificates, captive structures, including advise on setting up of captive generating plants, and drafting of all the requisite captive structure documents/ agreements, which include shareholding/ subscription agreements, power delivery agreements, facilitation agreements, MoUs, etc. The Firm is extensively involved in drafting and review of project documents in the power sector such as power purchase agreement, transmission services and wheeling agreements, short term trading agreements etc.
